North Korea has launched an investigation into the accidental tilting and flooding of a new warship which left leader Kim Jong Un dismayed. The destroyer had been launched on Wednesday but lost its balance, resulting in damage. New satellite imagery shows the ship lying on its side and covered in blue tarpaulin at a shipyard in Chongjin. Kim Jong Un described the incident as a “criminal act” and stated that it had damaged the dignity and self-respect of the state. No holes were found at the bottom of the vessel; however, the starboard hull was scratched, allowing seawater to flow in. The extent of the damage is considered to be not serious. Hong Kil Ho, the manager of the Chongjin shipyard, has been called in for questioning as the investigation seeks to establish the cause of the mishap and identify those responsible.
