In an extraordinary incident, a individual has been apprehended after a cargo ship veered off course and ended up stranded in a front yard, all while the homeowner was fast asleep indoors.
Remarkable images captured just how perilously close the 135m-long vessel came to colliding with Johan Helberg’s residence near Trondheim, Norway, on Thursday.
The police conducted an investigation into the incident and have taken action against a Ukrainian man in his 30s, who was serving as the second officer on the vessel.
He was among the 16 individuals on the ship, and has been accused of negligent navigation.
Similar to Mr Helberg, the officer was asleep at the time.
“The individual charged was the officer on duty at the time of the incident,” stated a police release.
“During questioning, he claimed that he fell asleep while on duty alone, leading to the vessel being grounded.”
