Despite Brazil having the largest Black population in the world, the history of Afro-descendants is often reduced to the topic of slavery, neglecting the rich and diverse contributions made to the country’s history, culture, and art. A law passed in 2003, mandating that schools teach the history of Brazil’s Black population, has rarely been implemented, but various organizations and individuals are now taking the initiative to provide a more comprehensive education on this topic.
