US President Donald Trump has expressed his displeasure with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin following a significant attack by Moscow on Ukraine. He stated, “I’ve always had a good relationship with Putin, but he’s killing many innocent people, and that’s not something I appreciate.” President Zelensky of Ukraine criticized the United States’ muted response to the Russian attacks, urging for more aggressive actions, such as additional sanctions against Russia.
In a video clip from New Jersey, Trump tackled Putin directly, stating, “Putin has completely lost it. He wants all of Ukraine, not just part of it. If that happens, it could lead to Russia’s destruction.” He also criticized Zelensky, suggesting that his provocative statements could be detrimental to Ukraine. According to Trump, Zelensky’s approach may not be beneficial to his own country.
The conversation comes after a 2-hour phone call between Trump and Putin, where they discussed a possible ceasefire agreement that would put an end to the conflict. While Ukraine has agreed to a 30-day ceasefire, Russia has only expressed willingness to work towards a “memorandum on future peace” – something deemed as a delay tactic by Ukraine and its European allies.
