During a search of her property, Erin Patterson appeared surprised to learn that two of her lunch guests had died, as reported during her triple murder trial in a Victorian court. According to Det Sgt Luke Farrell, who testified at Patterson’s trial on Tuesday, he and a team of four homicide squad officers executed a search warrant at Patterson’s house a week after the lunch. Patterson, 50, faces three charges of murder and one charge of attempted murder related to the poisoning of her four lunch guests – relatives of her estranged husband, Simon Patterson – with a beef wellington served at her house in South Gippsland on July 29, 2023. She has pleaded not guilty to the accusations. The trial also heard that Patterson’s defense claims the death cap mushroom poisoning was a tragic accident. Additional details regarding the development of the case and the search of Patterson’s property were presented at the trial. The trial continues.
