Biden, who defeated Trump in the 2020 election and withdrew from his reelection campaign following a lackluster debate performance that raised concerns about his age and mental capacity, has been a subject of scrutiny among Republicans regarding his cognitive abilities throughout his presidency. However, recent reports from various US media outlets and a book co-authored by CNN host Jake Tapper have suggested that top Democrats and members of Biden’s inner circle also had reservations about his competence to fulfill the duties of the presidency.
In a memo, Trump questioned the authenticity of Biden’s use of an autopen to sign documents such as pardons. An autopen, a device that replicates a person’s signature, has been employed by presidents for many years. Nevertheless, Trump argues that certain actions by Biden are invalid because his aides have overstepped their authority to conceal what Trump believes to be Biden’s cognitive deterioration.
Trump wrote in the memo, “This conspiracy represents one of the most perilous and troubling scandals in American history. The public was deliberately kept in the dark on who was truly exercising executive power, while Biden’s signature was applied to thousands of documents to enact radical policy changes.”
He has tasked Attorney General Pam Bondi and White House Counsel David Warrington with leading the investigation.
