Two people have been killed and 17 others injured in the largest drone attack on Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city, according to the mayor Ihor Terekhov. The attack involved 48 drones, two missiles, and four gliding bombs.
Terekhov stated that significant damage was inflicted, with three residential buildings being hit. Footage has emerged of several floors of one building engulfed in flames.
The previous night, six people were killed and 80 were injured across Ukraine when Russia launched over 400 drones and nearly 40 missiles.
This attack came after Ukraine carried out daring drone strikes on Russian strategic warplanes at four air bases within the country. The SBU reported that at least 40 Russian aircraft were hit during the operation. According to Ukraine, 117 drones were used, which were first smuggled into Russia and then placed inside wooden cabins mounted on lorries before being launched remotely.
Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
