Vance Boelter arrested after a two-day search in a Midwestern state.
The person responsible for the assassination of a lawmaker and the attempted assassination of another in Minnesota has been apprehended.
Vance Boelter, 57, was apprehended on Sunday following a two-day manhunt in the region, according to law enforcement officials.
“The embodiment of evil. The killer is now in custody thanks to the relentless and determined efforts of the police,” stated the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office in a social media post, which included a photo of Boelter being taken into custody.
“Due to the dedication of multiple agencies working together and the support from the community, justice has taken a significant step forward.”
Boelter is accused of shooting two Democratic lawmakers and their spouses in a politically motivated attack on Saturday morning.
Melissa Hortman, a state representative, and her husband, Mark, were killed in the attack, while state Senator John A Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were injured.
Boelter is facing two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder, according to a criminal complaint that was unsealed on Sunday night.
