Australia calls Iran’s Nuclear Program ‘International Peace Threat’ Following US Assaults and Additional Threats | Middle East and North Africa

The federal government has urged for “de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy” after the US launched airstrikes in Iran, while approximately 4,000 Australian citizens attempt to flee the conflict zone. Donald Trump confirmed that key Iranian nuclear enrichment facilities had been “totally obliterated” by the US to support Israel’s mission against Tehran’s nuclear program. The US president, referring to Iran as the “bully of the Middle East”, called for Iran to make peace, warning that future attacks will be greater if they do not. Furthermore, the government spokesperson reiterated Australia’s position that Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile program poses a risk to global security and continued to advocate for a de-escalation of the conflict.
