A drone attack on Kyiv overnight has resulted in at least 14 people injured, damage to railway infrastructure, and multiple buildings and cars on fire across the city, according to the city’s mayor. The incident follows a series of intensified Russian airstrikes on Kyiv in recent weeks, which have included some of the deadliest attacks of the war against a city with a population of three million. Twelve of the injured were hospitalized and two were treated at the scene.
Damage was reported in six out of Kyiv’s ten districts, with falling drone debris causing a fire at a medical facility in the Holosiivskyi district. The attack also led to two fires breaking out in the Svyatoshynskyi district and another in Shevchenkivskyi due to drone debris. Meanwhile, Ukraine state-owned railway Ukrzaliznytsia confirmed the attack damaged railway infrastructure, leading to diverted passenger trains and delays.
US President Donald Trump’s recent call with Russian President Vladimir Putin ended in no progress in ending the Ukraine conflict. Washington’s decision to halt certain weapons shipments to Ukraine has also caused concern, with Kyiv warning this move would weaken its defense against increased airstrikes and battlefield advances.
Ukraine reportedly launched a drone attack on Sergiyev Posad, near Moscow, causing at least one injury and explosions in at least four locations. Local authorities advised residents to stay away from windows and not document the air defense operations. Additionally, a drone attack in the Rostov region killed at least one woman.
