The Spanish Civil Guard is spearheading the evacuation operations in the Toledo area due to the ongoing wildfires.
Residents in Méntrida and Calypo Fado were advised to vacate their homes as the flames neared residential zones and ravaged extensive tracts of forest.
According to the authorities, approximately 2,500 hectares (25 sq km) of land have been impacted.
The strong winds exacerbated the situation by propelling thick smoke plumes towards the capital city of Madrid.
