As the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro approaches, the city’s streets are already bustling with revelers and music groups. With only five days until the celebrations begin on February 28, thousands of people have taken to the streets, dancing and enjoying the festive atmosphere.
The Cordão do Boitatá parade was one of the highlights, taking place in downtown Rio and featuring samba and drumbeats. Over the weekend, 99 official bloc parties and numerous unofficial ones attracted more than 160,000 participants.
To kick off the Carnival officially, the mayor will hand over the city’s keys to King Momo on February 28.
