In a remarkable rescue story from upstate New York, Sly, a massive 1,300-pound horse, found himself trapped in the icy waters of a pond. Swift action by his owner, Ali Ernst, and a team of vigilant police officers, along with their brave neighbors, ensured his safe return.
Directly upon her discovery of Sly in the precarious situation, Ernst immediately acted, keeping his head above water and quickly reaching out for help. Officer Kyle Clinton was the first responder on the scene, joined soon after by additional rescuers. Using ropes as tools of salvation, they managed to pull Sly to safety.
Despite the dire circumstances, Sly, fortunately, showed signs of recovery after receiving the necessary veterinary care and was later kept in the warmth of his home. As a preventative measure against such incidents in the future, Ernst took steps to install an electric fence surrounding the pond. This measure ensures that her horses, including Sly, can no longer access and inadvertently tread on the dangerously frozen ice.
