In Nigeria, Muslims gather to perform prayers, celebrating the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.

Muslims in Nigeria and across the globe observed the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan by celebrating the festive occasion of Eid al-Fitr on Sunday with prayer services.

Prayers during Eid hold significant importance for Muslims during the Eid al-Fitr festivities. These communal prayers are commonly held within the confines of a mosque or an open area.

Aisha Sanni, 19 years old, expresses a blend of emotions after the termination of the sacred month.

“Ramadan is immensely valuable and brings me immense joy, yet simultaneously, I experience sadness because there is an abundance of goodness during Ramadan,” said Aisha Sanni.

The Islamic calendar is lunar-based and dependent on the observation of the moon — a matter that often results in disagreements among Muslim religious authorities.

Fasting during Ramadan is believed to cultivate self-discipline, self-restraint, and compassion for the less fortunate among Muslims.

Besides fasting, Muslims amplify their prayers and engage in charitable behaviors during the holy month of Ramadan.
