Residents in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, responded to comments US President Donald Trump made recently about immigrants from abroad.
While meeting Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Trump addressed issues of curbing migration and the situation at US borders. He mentioned that “many, many people come from the Congo. I don’t know what that is, but they came from the Congo and all over the world they came in,” to his Italian counterpart.

Jonathan Bawolo, a Kinshasa resident, responded to Trump’s comments, stating, “We are a nation rich enough to be generous, and we do not harass foreigners in the streets to demand their identification documents.”
