Kyiv is determined to achieve a peace agreement, according to Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reiterated his calls for security assurances shortly after a public feud with US President Donald Trump.

“You see, a mere ceasefire without any security guarantees – it’s extremely sensitive for our people. I am speaking as a president whose people have been in this struggle for three years, and they simply want to hear that America stands with them, not with the Russians. With us.”

Following Trump’s assertion that Kyiv is not earnest about achieving peace, Zelenskyy sought to clarify. “Nobody desires to end the war more than us. We are the ones in this war, fighting for complete liberty, for our lives. So, I am just saying that I believe we must be on the same side. And I hope that the US president stands with us as well. That is very significant in our efforts to stop Putin.”

Additionally, Zelenskyy mentioned that the proposed minerals deal, which was a point of discussion before the disarray, would be the initial step towards peace.
