The final is scheduled to take place at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground in England from June 11 to 15, setting the stage for a captivating match. Lyon recognized the challenge that South Africa’s rising batting talents present, having previously encountered some of them during his stint in county cricket last year.
“South Africa will be a significant challenge,” Lyon stated. “They have some talented young batsmen coming up. I faced a few of them when playing county cricket last year. But it’s set to be yet another contest between two of the world’s best bowling attacks. This will be a fantastic test for both teams’ batsmen.”
Lyon underscored the importance of playing in the final, describing it as the pinnacle of a cricketer’s career. “It’s another final, you know? That’s the reason to play cricket—to be in the finals and to win titles. So, we have the opportunity to defend our title, and it’s quite thrilling.”
Along with expressing his anticipation for the final, Lyon also conveyed relief and support for his teammate Matt Kuhnemann, who was recently cleared by the ICC following a scrutiny of his bowling action. Kuhnemann was reported by match officials during a series in Sri Lanka earlier this year but was subsequently cleared. The left-arm spinner was also included in Cricket Australia’s list of contracted players for the 2025-26 season, providing him further encouragement.
