Netanyahu provides additional testimony in his ongoing corruption case.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made history as he testified on the witness stand in his ongoing corruption trial, marking the first time a sitting Israeli leader has defended themselves as a criminal defendant.

This trial marks a historic low for Israel’s longest-serving Prime Minister, who also faces an international arrest warrant over alleged war crimes in the Gaza Strip.

The 75-year-old is accused of fraud, breach of trust, and bribery in three cases. These include allegations of accepting luxury gifts, cigars, and champagne valued at tens of thousands of dollars from a billionaire Hollywood producer in return for political favors. He is also charged with providing media moguls with regulatory benefits in exchange for positive exposure of himself and his family.

Netanyahu denies any misconduct, labeling the accusations as a politically driven “witch hunt” by a prejudiced legal system and a hostile press. His testimony follows years of scandals surrounding him and his family, who are known for their extravagant lifestyle funded by taxpayers.
