Rwanda’s Ministry of Information Discloses Passing Away of Deputy Spokesperson Alain Mukuralinda

Mourning a prominent Rwandan figure
The deputy government spokesperson of Rwanda, Alain Mukuralinda, passed away on April 3, 2023, at the age of 55 due to a heart attack in Kigali. The Rwandan government confirmed his death through an official statement.
Lucien Mukuralinda, renowned for his work in media, served as deputy government spokesperson from December 2021 until his death, under the supervision of Yolande Makolo, the main spokesperson. Before this role, Mukuralinda developed a distinguished career in the justice sector.
After completing his law studies in Belgium during the 1990s, Mukuralinda joined Rwanda’s prosecution office in 2002. He held esteemed positions within the public ministry until 2015, where he presided over high-profile cases, including the trial of opposition leader Victoire Ingabire between 2012 and 2013.
Mukuralinda was not only a notable figure in public service but also left a mark on Rwanda’s music industry. He was known fondly as Alain Muku and composed a song that was adopted as the anthem for Rwanda’s national football team.
