Earlier this week, the army announced its control over a major market in Omdurman, Khartoum’s twin city, which had been a base of RSF operations during the ongoing conflict. Additionally, the army claimed victory against the RSF in Khartoum, stating they currently hold most of the capital, including the significant commercial centre of Souq Libya.
As the conflict between the army and RSF intensifies, it has fueled ethnic violence, triggered a humanitarian crisis, and resulted in widespread famine. The repercussions have caused the displacement of millions of Sudanese people, and the death toll from this war has tragically reached tens of thousands. Furthermore, the violence has exacerbated instability in neighbouring countries, such as Libya, Chad, and South Sudan.
