Former India international Ajinkya Rahane will take over as captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), replacing Shreyas Iyer, who will be leading Punjab Kings. Rahane, a 36-year-old top-order batsman, brings his experience and leadership skills to the team, while seam-bowling all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer will serve as his deputy. KKR’s chief executive Venky Mysore expressed delight in having Rahane and confidence in the duo’s ability to defend their title.
