Amnesty Accuses Israel of Conducting ‘Live-Streamed Genocide’ in Gaza Amidst Israel-Palestine Conflict News

Amnesty International also claims that US President Donald Trump is accountable for various human rights abuses.

Amnesty International asserts that Israel is carrying out a “live-streamed genocide” in Gaza, committing unlawful acts with the intention of eradicating Palestinians. They accuse Israeli forces of breaching the UN Genocide Convention by causing severe physical or mental harm to civilians and deliberately imposing living conditions intended to lead to their physical annihilation.

Israeli forces in Gaza have obstructed humanitarian access and invaded the city of Rafah, disregarding international community warnings about the consequences for civilians. Air strikes frequently target civilians who are following evacuation orders, and Palestinians are being arbitrarily detained and sometimes forcibly disappeared.

According to Amnesty’s secretary-general, Agnes Callamard, since October 7, 2023, when Hamas committed heinous acts against Israeli citizens and seized over 250 hostages, the world has witnessed a live-streamed genocide. She claims that states, including the USA, acted as if international law did not apply to them.

Israel has vehemently denied accusations of genocide, maintaining that it is acting in self-defense against Hamas and taking extensive measurements to protect civilians. However, over 51,300 people, including at least 17,400 children, have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since October 7, 2023, according to Palestinian health authorities. About 1,200 people were killed in Hamas’s October 7 attacks on Israel, according to Israeli authorities.

In addition, Amnesty International voices concern over the role of powerful allies in supporting these human rights violations and criticizes the administration of then-US President Donald Trump for posing significant threats to global human rights. They highlight the reckless and punishing attacks against human rights accountability, international law, and the UN, marking the first 100 days of Trump’s presidency in 2025.

Furthermore, the report raises concerns about alleged human rights violations committed by Russia during its invasion of Ukraine and attacks on gender equality in Afghanistan and Iran. In Afghanistan, the Taliban government is accused of criminalizing the public presence of women and girls, while Iran has implemented compulsory veiling laws that intensify oppression and impose severe punishments for non-compliance.
