Some Arab leaders have assembled to explore a new plan for the Gaza Strip, which has been severely affected by 15 months of conflict with Israel.
US President Donald Trump has faced resistance following his announcement to take control of Gaza. According to his proposal, he suggests relocating over two million Palestinians to safer countries like Jordan or Egypt while transforming Gaza into a Mediterranean resort. This suggestion has angered the international community, with the Arab world firmly rejecting it.
However, what alternative solutions can they propose? A recent meeting held in Riyadh, attended by Gulf nations along with Egypt and Jordan, concluded without any tangible counter-proposals. Another meeting is scheduled in Cairo in the coming weeks, but can they convince Trump to reconsider his plan?
James Bays present on the topic with his guests: Dania Thafer from Gulf International Forum and a lecturer at Georgetown University, Yossi Mekelberg, a senior consulting fellow at Chatham House, and Daoud Kuttab, a renowned Palestinian journalist and author of “State of Palestine NOW: Practical and Logical Arguments for the Best Way to Bring Peace to the Middle East.”
