Argentina’s government has committed $9.2 million in financial support for the port city of Bahia Blanca, which has a population of 300,000 people and is situated south of Buenos Aires.
The presidential office’s statement on Sunday announced the mourning period, though it did not specify when it would commence, emphasizing the commitment of all national government sectors to provide support to those affected by this tragedy.
The devastating floods occurred when Bahia Blanca, a major port city, was deluged with an estimated year’s worth of rainfall, around 260 millimeters (10 inches), within hours.
