Argentina’s government has committed $9.2 million in financial support for the port city of Bahia Blanca, which has a population of 300,000 people and is situated south of Buenos Aires.

Following a severe flash flood in Bahia Blanca that has resulted in at least 16 fatalities, with some individuals still unaccounted for, President Javier Milei has declared a three-day period of national mourning.

The devastating floods occurred when Bahia Blanca, a major port city, was deluged with an estimated year’s worth of rainfall, around 260 millimeters (10 inches), within hours.
