At least seven people die as a train derails close to the Russians-Ukrainian border | Updates on the conflict in Ukraine

DEVELOPING STORY,

A train derails in Russia’s Bryansk region after a bridge collapse caused by ‘illegal interference,’ according to officials.

A passenger train in Russia has derailed, resulting in the deaths of at least seven people and injuring thirty others. The incident occurred late Saturday in Bryansk region, which shares a border with Ukraine.
“Unfortunately, there are seven fatalities,” stated Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz via Telegram.

Thirty victims, including two children, were transported to medical facilities in the Bryansk Region, with two in serious condition.

The driver of the train was among those killed, according to Russian news agencies.
According to Rosavtodor, Russia’s federal road transportation agency, the destroyed bridge was situated above the railway tracks the train was traveling on.
The train was heading from the town of Klimov to Moscow when it collided with the collapsed bridge near Vygonichi village, about 100km (62 miles) from the border with Ukraine.
Rescue operations were underway to search for passengers trapped within the damaged train, and emergency accommodation was set up at a school in Vygonichi.
Moscow Railway, via Telegram, stated that the bridge collapsed “as a result of an illegal interference in the operation of transport.” However, no further details were provided.
Russia’s Baza Telegram channel, which relies on sources from security services and law enforcement, reported that the bridge was allegedly blown up. Explosions have derailed multiple trains, mostly freight trains, in Russian regions near Ukraine as conflict persists between Russia and Ukraine.
There was no immediate comment from Ukraine.
Two hours after the bridge collapse was reported, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that Ukraine’s air defense units were working to repel a Russian air attack on the Ukrainian capital.
On Saturday, Russian drone and missile attacks had already killed at least two people in Ukraine, officials confirmed.
Since Russia’s invasion three years ago, there have been continued cross-border shelling, drone strikes, and covert raids from Ukraine into Russia’s Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod regions, all of which border Ukraine.
United States President Donald Trump has called on Moscow and Kyiv to collaborate on a deal to end the war. Russia has also proposed a second round of face-to-face talks with Ukrainian officials next week in Istanbul. Ukraine has yet to confirm its attendance, awaiting Russian proposals, while a US senator warned Moscow it would face severe sanctions.
