Gustavo Petro, the Colombian President, accused Peru of annexing the disputed island, reigniting a longstanding conflict. He claims that Peru’s actions could block Leticia, a Colombian city, from accessing the Amazon River. Petro warned that this could disrupt trade and commerce in the region.
