Francesco Bagnaia Triumphs in Americas MotoGP While Marc Marquez Faces a Setback | Motor Racing Bulletin

Francesco Bagnaia secures victory for Ducati amidst the chaos of the Americas Grand Prix, following a crash by six-time MotoGP champion Marquez, who was leading the race.

A chaotic race at the Americas Grand Prix led to Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia claiming victory ahead of Alex Marquez of Gresini Racing. Leading the race, Marc Marquez experienced a first-time crash this season, opting to retire due to extensive damage to his bike.
Marquez had secured pole position and a third straight sprint win, but his race ended in disappointment. With the win, Bagnaia moved to 75 points, trailing Alex Marquez who took second place. This result put Alex in the lead of the MotoGP riders’ championship with 87 points, just ahead of his brother Marc.
Fabio Di Giannantonio of VR46 Racing finished third, giving Ducati a clean sweep of the podium. Bagnaia expressed his joy after the victory, having moved back to the top position of the podium after a challenging period.
The race was marked by chaos before its start when a brief sun break led riders to rapidly switch from wet to slick tires, resulting in a red flag. Marc Marquez initially dominated the race, leading before crashing out on lap nine.
Bagnaia took advantage of the situation to overtake Alex Marquez and secure second place. Marc Marquez attempted to continue but ultimately retired due to bike damage.
Alex Marquez took the second spot for the third race in a row, acknowledging the gift from his brother’s mishap but focusing on their championship lead. Di Giannantonio, who secured his first podium since 2023, celebrated the unexpected turn of events.
Franco Morbidelli and Jack Miller completed the top five.
