A representative from Hamas has informed Al Jazeera about the existence of a “signed agreement” relating to the ceasefire, stating that it was Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who “failed to honor the agreement” before initiating the deadly attack on Tuesday.

Israel’s most recent series of deadly strikes across Gaza has broken the fragile two-month truce it had with Hamas. The air raids have resulted in at least 404 Palestinian deaths and hundreds of injuries.

Taher al-Nono, a media advisor to the head of Hamas’ political bureau, questioned why Hamas should have to present further proposals when there is already a “signed agreement” with international parties serving as guarantors.

“We have complied with a Security Council resolution and have welcomed all outreach efforts made towards us. It was Netanyahu who pulled away from the agreement. Netanyahu who ignored it. Therefore, it is Netanyahu, not Hamas or the resistance, who must be urged to adhere to it.”

Al-Nono stated that Hamas remains in contact with mediators and international organizations to halt Israeli aggression against Gaza.

On Tuesday, Palestinians who had gone back to their damaged or demolished homes following the ceasefire became targets again of Israel’s continuous bombing, with entire families annihilated within seconds.

Hamas considers Israel’s current attacks as a unilateral decision to nullify the ceasefire agreement.

“Netanyahu and his extreme government have chosen to overthrow the ceasefire agreement, leaving prisoners in Gaza to an uncertain destiny,” Hamas stated on Tuesday.

They have called on individuals in Arab and Islamic countries, combined with “the free world,” to demonstrate against this aggression.
