Israel Strikes Largest Hospital in Southern Gaza Amidst Ongoing Israel-Palestine Conflict

An Israeli military attack on the largest hospital in southern Gaza resulted in two deaths, multiple injuries, and a significant fire, according to the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.
The attack, which occurred on Sunday night, targeted the surgical facility at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. This assault followed a surge in casualties and admissions at the hospital, due to Israel’s resumed military operations in Gaza last week.
A 16-year-old boy who had surgery two days prior and Ismail Barhoum, a member of Hamas’s political bureau receiving medical care, were among the fatalities, as confirmed by Hamas in their statement.
The Israeli military acknowledged the strike, claiming it aimed at a Hamas member. Israeli authorities have consistently cited Hamas for civilian casualties, asserting the group’s operations in populated areas are to blame.
Similar to other medical centers in Gaza, Nasser Hospital has sustained damage from Israeli strikes and airstrikes throughout the conflict.
Israeli forces have reportedly killed over 600 individuals since resuming their attacks, including dozens in the past day, according to Palestinian health authorities.
By Sunday, the official death toll in Gaza since the war’s onset surpassed 50,000, as per the Health Ministry. However, many believe this figure significantly underestimates the actual number of fatalities.
