Goodwill messages have continued to showcase an extraordinary display of diplomatic unity between Beijing, Pyongyang, and Moscow. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un assured Chinese President Xi Jinping that North Korea would stand by China to safeguard its sovereignty, territory, and development interests, during their meeting that followed an unprecedented show of unity with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing.
Russia has also acknowledged North Korea’s support in its conflict with Ukraine, emphasizing the strong relations between Pyongyang, Beijing, and Moscow after their joint attendance at a monumental military parade in Beijing commemorating the end of World War II. The parade prominently featured China’s latest military advancements, with Xi Jinping celebrating China’s victory over “Japanese aggression” in the “world anti-fascist war”.
Kim expressed that despite any changes in the international landscape, the bond of friendship between Pyongyang and Beijing remains unaltered. In return, Xi affirmed that China and North Korea are allies, linked by a shared destiny, and committed to strengthening their ties. This meeting marked Kim’s first international venture since his 2023 meeting with Putin in Russia.
The meeting between Putin and Kim, along with their discussions on long-term cooperation, had a notable impact, prompting a response from United States President Donald Trump, who expressed concerns over their apparent alliance against the United States. However, Putin dismissed these remarks as unfounded, and both leaders praised the deepening of their military ties.
In a gesture of solidarity, Putin congratulated North Korea on its foundation day, acknowledging the country’s support in the Ukraine conflict, where North Korea has reportedly deployed soldiers and provided military supplies. Kim, in turn, reaffirmed North Korea’s commitment to supporting Russia’s military endeavors.
This series of events highlights the strengthening diplomatic bonds and potential military collaborations among these nations.
