Kim Jong Un of North Korea Expresses Unrestricted Solidarity with Russia Amid Ukraine Conflict | Political Updates

North Korea’s Kim Jong Un reinforces the alliance with Russia during the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un, declared to Russia’s top diplomat that Pyongyang stands ready to fully support all actions taken by Moscow in its conflict in Ukraine, state media reports indicate, amid high-level strategic discussions between the two nations.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is currently on a three-day visit to North Korea, a country that has been providing troops and weapons for Russia’s activities in Ukraine, and has promised additional military support as Moscow strives to advance in the conflict.
Kim received Lavrov in the eastern port city of Wonsan, where Lavrov and his North Korean counterpart, Choe Son Hui, engaged in their second strategic dialogue, committing to strengthen their cooperation under a partnership treaty signed last year, which includes a mutual defense agreement.

“Kim Jong Un confirmed that the DPRK stands ready to unconditionally support and endorse all the actions taken by the Russian leadership in addressing the root cause of the Ukrainian issue,” reported KCNA, using the abbreviation for the country’s official name, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared a video on Telegram showing Lavrov and Kim greeting each other with a handshake and a hug.
Kim also expressed his strong belief in the success of the Russian army and people in safeguarding their dignity and fundamental interests.
Furthermore, the two leaders discussed key issues for the faithful implementation of the agreements agreed upon during the historic DPRK-Russia summit talks in June 2024, as per KCNA.
Russia and North Korea have significantly strengthened their ties over the past two years, since the start of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022, with North Korea sending over 10,000 troops and weapons to bolster Moscow’s efforts.
Last year, the two nations, both subject to heavy sanctions, signed a military deal, including a mutual defense clause, during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s rare visit to North Korea.
Lavrov conveyed Putin’s hope for continued direct contact in the near future, according to Russian state news agency TASS.
Before the visit, Russia announced the commencement of bi-weekly flights between Moscow and Pyongyang.
Lavrov described Wonsan as “a fine tourist destination,” adding that he hoped it would become popular not only among locals but also with Russians.
