Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the NBA’s MVP, led the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 118-103 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals. With 38 points, Gilgeous-Alexander tied his career playoff-high, while Jalen Williams added 26 points. The Thunder now leads the series 2-0 as they prepare for Game 3 in Minneapolis. Gilgeous-Alexander, who was awarded the NBA Most Valuable Player trophy before the game, has now scored 30 or more points in five consecutive games. Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards scored 32 points, shooting 12 of 26 from the floor but only one of nine on three-point attempts. The Timberwolves’ Julius Randle, who had a strong performance in Game 1, managed only six points in Game 2, making just two of 11 field goals and not playing in the fourth quarter. Oklahoma City led by as many as 24 points late in the third quarter before Minnesota clawed back within 10 points towards the end. However, the Thunder held on to take the win.
