Nepal’s Communications and Information Technology Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung announced the cancellation of the ban.
Following widespread demonstrations and the tragic loss of life of 19 individuals in confrontations with security personnel, Nepal has reversed its ban on various social media platforms, as confirmed by government officials.
Prithvi Subba Gurung, the Cabinet spokesman and Minister of Communication and Information Technology, announced early on Tuesday that the government has revoked the social media ban it imposed recently.

“We have lifted the social media shutdown. Access is now restored,” Gurung informed the Reuters news agency.
At least 19 individuals were killed and more than a hundred injured in disputes with Nepalese security forces, as thousands of young protesters marched against government corruption and the restriction on social media platforms, on Monday.
The government had earlier blocked 26 social media websites, such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
