North Korean leader Kim Jong Un recently observed missile drills in the Yellow Sea, according to state media reports. The nation conducted test launches of strategic cruise missiles to communicate its counterattack capabilities to adversaries, as per the state media. The drills took place on Wednesday, and were confirmed by South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.
North Korea justified the drills as a warning to those who threaten the security of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and escalate hostilities. The missiles traveled for 130 minutes and covered a distance of 1,587 km (986 miles) before accurately hitting their targets.
Kim Jong Un expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the drills, which were the fourth of their kind in 2025 and the second since the inauguration of United States President Donald Trump. Trump, who held three summits with Kim during his initial term, aims to contact the leader during his second term.
