Police in Australia file criminal charges against a nurse in relation to a video advocating for the murder of Israelis.

Police charge a 26-year-old woman over a video that sparked widespread criticism.

A 26-year-old nurse in Australia has been charged with making death threats and other crimes related to a video that appears to show hospital staff claiming they killed and denied treatment to Israeli patients.
According to the New South Wales Police, the woman, identified as Sarah Abu Lebdeh, was charged with making threats against a group and using a service to threaten murder.
NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb revealed that Abu Lebdeh is not allowed to leave the country or use social media as part of her stringent bail conditions.
Webb stated that the woman is expected to face court in Sydney on March 19.
This comes after a video of two hospital staff in Sydney bragging about harming Israeli patients spread on social media earlier this month, causing significant outrage.
In the online video chat shared by Israeli creator Max Veifer, Abu Lebdeh allegedly informed the influencer that she wouldn’t treat Israelis seeking medical help and would “kill them”.
The video also showed a male hospital staff member stating he had sent numerous Israeli patients to “Jahannam”, the Arabic word for hell. This individual has not been charged.
As a result of the incident, the two hospital staff have been prohibited from working in healthcare in any capacity. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the actions “disgusting, sickening, and shameful”.
Health officials claim there is no evidence that any patients have been adversely affected.
Australia has experienced an increase in anti-Semitic incidents recently, including a suspected bomb plot and arson attacks on synagogues.
Since October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched an attack on Israel and Israel began its war in Gaza, advocacy groups have reported an upsurge in both anti-Semitic and Islamophobic incidents.
