Russia Declines Talks on International Military Presence in Ukraine Across All Platforms | Political Updates

A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated that Russia is firmly opposed to any talks regarding the deployment of foreign troops in Ukraine. She announced that Moscow would not participate in discussions about an international post-conflict security force in any format. This statement was made at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, where Zakharova emphasized that foreign intervention in Ukraine is “fundamentally unacceptable” and undermines security. European leaders, who are currently working on plans for a multinational force in the event of a war-ending agreement, were advised to consider Russia’s position on this matter. Furthermore, Zakharova expressed her concern over the significant losses Ukraine has suffered, suggesting that the European Commission has made a considerable effort. These remarks follow European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s recent announcement regarding the European Union’s specific plans for a multinational force deployment in Ukraine. Discussions around post-conflict security guarantees for Kyiv were set to occur during a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders in Paris. However, despite efforts to find a resolution to the conflict, Moscow and Kyiv remain far apart on key aspects of a potential peace agreement. Russia insists on including territories it has annexed since 2022 as part of any deal, while Ukraine strongly opposes any territorial concessions. Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump has expressed plans to communicate with Zelenskyy and Putin in coming days, aiming to find a swift resolution to the ongoing conflict.
