Fighting
- Russia’s Ministry of Defence claimed its air defense units intercepted and destroyed 20 Ukrainian drones overnight across six regions of the country on the eve of its third anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine.
Ukrainian officials reported several waves of missile and drone attacks overnight, hitting Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine, resulting in one civilian death in Kryvyi Rih and damage to buildings and vehicles in Kyiv and other areas.
One woman died and three others were injured in Russia’s guided bomb attacks on the industrial city of Kostiantynivka in the eastern Donetsk region, according to Ukrainian officials. Seven apartment buildings and 14 other structures suffered damage in the assault, the state emergency service announced.
Oleh Kiper, the governor of Ukraine’s Black Sea region of Odesa, reported that three people were injured when a private house caught fire following a drone attack.
A 53-year-old woman was injured, and several residential houses were damaged in an attack on the southeastern region of Zaporizhia, stated regional Governor Ivan Fedorov on Telegram.
Multiple drone attacks on Kyiv damaged several residential houses and cars, but no immediate reports of injuries were recorded, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko on Telegram.
Ukraine’s air force reported that Kyiv and central and eastern parts of the country were under air raid alerts for about six hours overnight.
President Vladimir Putin of Russia stated early on Sunday that the country’s key strategic priorities are to meet the needs of troops fighting in Ukraine and to bolster the armed forces, coinciding with Moscow’s annual Defender of the Fatherland Day.

French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will travel to Washington, DC next week amid concerns in Europe over President Donald Trump’s hardening stance towards Ukraine and overtures to Moscow on the three-year conflict.
- United Kingdom Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced that London would reveal a significant package of sanctions against Russia on Monday, which marks the three-year anniversary of its war with Ukraine.
Trump stated that the US is close to a deal with Ukraine on sharing revenue from Ukrainian minerals, as part of efforts to end the Ukraine war. He said the US seeks to recover the billions of dollars of military aid it has provided to Ukraine.
- Polish President Andrzej Duda suggested to Trump during their meeting in Washington, DC that the US presence in Poland and Central Europe should be strengthened. Trump confirmed a close alliance with Poland, commending Warsaw’s commitment to increase defense spending, the White House announced on X following their meeting.
Polish Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski stated that it has been covering Ukraine’s Starlink subscription and plans to continue doing so despite reports that the US might consider cutting Ukraine’s access to the satellite internet system.

The US aims for the United Nations Security Council to vote on a brief draft resolution marking the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on Monday, before the 193-member General Assembly votes on the same text, according to diplomats. This US proposal is at odds with Kyiv and the European Union, which have been working on a separate draft.
