In an impressive display of skill and dominance, Stephen Curry delivered a standout performance by scoring 52 points, while Jimmy Butler contributed an additional 27 points, propelling the visiting Golden State Warriors to a 134-125 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. This win marks the team’s third consecutive victory and their twelfth in the last fifteen games.
Curry showcased his shooting prowess by making 16 out of 31 shots, with an astonishing 12 out of 20 three-pointers. His all-around performance also included 10 rebounds, eight assists, and five steals.
Turning 37 this year, Curry notched his second 50-point game of the season, solidifying his place in NBA history as he advanced to the 25th spot on the all-time scoring list. By scoring two free throws midway through the third quarter, he surpassed Jerry West’s mark of 25,192 and ended the night with a total of 25,205.
Draymond Green delivered a well-rounded performance for the Warriors, amassing 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists. The team also excelled at the free-throw line, converting all 28 attempts without a miss.
Ja Morant shone for the Grizzlies, leading the team with 36 points and six assists. Jaren Jackson Jr. contributed 22 points, Desmond Bane added 19, and Santi Aldama chipped in with 18. In a standout performance, rookie big man Zach Edey achieved a career-high-tying 16 rebounds alongside 10 points and four blocks.
The Warriors surpassed the Grizzlies in the standings, securing the fifth spot in the Western Conference. Consequently, the Grizzlies suffered their seventh loss in eight games, including consecutive home defeats to the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, and Warriors.
Since acquiring Jimmy Butler in a trade with the Miami Heat, the Warriors have shown remarkable improvement, with a record of 19-5. Conversely, the Grizzlies have struggled, posting an 8-14 record since the All-Star break.
In the final moments of the fourth quarter, with 3:38 remaining, the Grizzlies led by four points after Ja Morant’s floater in the lane. However, the Warriors reclaimed the lead for good at 123-122 with 2:24 left on two free throws by Butler. Golden State maintained their composure, going 8-for-8 on free throws in the final 2:30 minutes.
Curry’s exceptional performance led the Warriors to a 32-point advantage at halftime, marked by an impressive 8-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc, highlighting their 74-66 advantage at the break.
