A large group of supporters of Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro gathered at Copacabana beach on Sunday, to show their support for the right-wing politician who is prevented from holding public office. Bolsonaro, 69, has called for a one-million strong demonstration on the famous beach before the upcoming elections in which he aims to be a candidate. The rally’s purpose is to demand amnesty for those convicted over riots instigated by Bolsonaro’s backers in Brasilia on January 8, 2023, when they stormed the presidential palace, Congress and Supreme Court.
