Tamim Iqbal: Bangladesh Cricketer Undergoing Treatment at Medical Facility Following Heart Attack | Sports Updates

Tamim Iqbal, the former national ODI captain of Bangladesh, is reported to be in stable medical condition following a cardiac arrest experienced during a Dhaka Premier League match on Monday. According to cricket officials and family sources cited by AFP, Tamim, 36, has regained consciousness and has even been able to communicate with his loved ones and take short walks at the hospital where he was rushed after showing signs of severe chest pain.

The incident occurred while Tamim was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club in a 50-over Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match. After being quickly taken to a nearby hospital, he underwent surgery to have stents implanted to treat an artery blockage. Despite initially being in critical condition, his health has improved significantly, as confirmed by club officials and hospital authorities.

The news of Tamim’s health crisis sparked an outpouring of support from the cricket world. Fellow players, including his longtime teammate Shakib Al Hasan and Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, expressed their well-wishes and prayers for Tamim’s speedy recovery.

Tamim’s illustrious career for Bangladesh spanned from 2007 to 2023, during which he amassed over 15,000 runs across all formats of the game and became the only Bangladeshi to score centuries in Tests, ODIs, and T20s. Having served as the ODI captain, his achievements have made him a venerable figure in Bangladeshi and international cricket.
