President Trump brushes off ongoing Epstein questions following law enforcement report that frustrates supporters.
Trump’s dismissive remarks on the ongoing interest in the case came after a joint DOJ and FBI review concluded Epstein died by suicide without a “client list.”
“Are you still discussing Jeffrey Epstein? This topic has been debated for years,” Trump responded to a journalist’s question addressed to US Attorney General Pam Bondi.
“Is anyone still talking about this individual, this creep? That’s unbelievable,” Trump continued, questioning whether Bondi wanted to “waste time” on the matter.
“I can’t believe you’re asking about Epstein at a time like this, with both great success and tragic events, like in Texas,” Trump said.
“It just seems like a desecration of the moment,” Trump added.
Prominent figures in Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement were outraged by the report, accusing the administration of participating in a cover-up concerning Epstein’s death and connections to political and financial elite.
Alex Jones of InfoWars labeled the report “over the top sickening” and hinted at further disbelief in the government’s account.
Laura Loomer, a far-right activist, demanded Bondi’s resignation, suggesting a lack of commitment to her role as attorney general.
On his podcast, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson accused Bondi of concealing “serious crimes.”
Speculation and conspiracy theories suggesting Epstein was murdered and had compromising information on powerful figures have been prevalent since his 2019 death, especially in right-wing communities.
Prior to the report’s release, prominent Trump administration figures, including Bondi and FBI director Kash Patel, had suggested the existence of an Epstein client list.
In a February interview on Fox News, Bondi was asked about releasing “the list of Jeffrey Epstein’s clients,” to which she replied, “It’s sitting on my desk right now to review.”
On Tuesday, Bondi clarified her comments, stating they referred to case documents, not a specific client list.
Bondi also stated that she had “no knowledge” of Epstein working with intelligence agencies and that thousands of videos reviewed in the case, which consisted of child sexual exploitation material, could not be released.
“Child porn is what they were. They’re never going to be released, never going to see the light of day,” Bondi stated.
