President of the United States Donald Trump appears to be enjoying the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel, a late-night comedian whose show was pulled off the air after he made a comment about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Trump posted on his Truth Social platform that Kimmel “made a total FOOL of himself,” and linked to a clip from Kimmel’s comment on the Academy Awards.
Earlier, Trump had claimed that Kimmel was fired for saying a “horrible thing” about Charlie Kirk. He then suggested the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) should consider revoking the licenses of broadcasters who criticize him.
ABC took Kimmel’s show off programming after the latest remarks. The FCC’s chair, Brendan Carr, who was appointed by Trump, hinted that Disney’s broadcast license could be in jeopardy due to Kimmel’s comments.
Kimmel’s show removal comes amid a trend of media figures facing consequences for speaking out against Trump, including lawsuits and retaliation.
Democratic lawmakers have introduced the No Political Enemies Act in response to Kimmel’s suspension and similar incidents.
