Ukraine has launched a significant overnight drone strike on Moscow, targeting the Russian capital. According to Russia’s Ministry of Defence, a total of 337 drones were shot down across the country. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported on Telegram early Tuesday that the city’s air defense systems were actively repelling the attack. The attack resulted in three deaths and three injuries in the southern suburbs of Moscow, as well as damage to a residential building in another suburb. The strike comes as the United States and Ukrainian officials prepare to meet in Saudi Arabia. Ukraine is expected to present a plan for a partial ceasefire with Russia and hopes to regain support from its largest military aid supplier. US President Donald Trump, who recently initiated talks with the Kremlin, has called upon Ukraine to make concessions to end the war. The talks in Saudi Arabia represent the highest-level discussions since a White House meeting last month, where Trump accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of ingratitude and demanded a deal with Russia. Military aid and intelligence sharing have since been suspended by Washington to pressure Ukraine into negotiations. A Ukrainian official stated that the massive drone attack should prompt Russian President Vladimir Putin to consider accepting the proposals Ukraine plans to present in Saudi Arabia.
