In the realm of combat, Russia’s air defenses have successfully intercepted numerous Ukrainian drones across various regions of the country, including two instances near Saint Petersburg, according to reports from officials. Moreover, the UN nuclear watchdog informed that all external power lines providing electricity to the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in Ukraine experienced a temporary outage before being restored, which Ukrainian authorities attribute to Russian shelling. Dutch and German intelligence services have suggested an increase in Russia’s use of prohibited chemical weapons in Ukraine, such as the World War I-era gas chloropicrin, a claim vehemently denied by Moscow.
Regarding weaponry, United States President Donald Trump discussed the possibility of supplying Ukraine with Patriot interceptor missiles during his conversations with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This initiative is supported by a German government spokesperson who indicated the country is considering purchasing additional Patriot air defense systems from the United States for Ukraine.

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius is scheduled to visit Washington later this month to negotiate with his US counterpart about air defense systems and production capabilities, as announced by the German defence ministry.
