The United States has conducted air strikes on more than 40 sites in regions of Yemen under Houthi control, including the capital, Sanaa. According to media sources tied to the Houthi rebels, several residential homes and businesses were damaged during the early morning attacks on Friday in Saada, Marib, al-Jawf, and Hodeidah provinces.

Other targets included the Sanaa International Airport, a hub for both civilian and military activity, and the mountainous areas around Amran, where numerous military encampments and installations are situated.

At least seven individuals were reportedly injured nationwide due to the US strikes, with at least one casualty recorded in Sanaa. Post-attack, there were disruptions to communication networks.

The Central Command of the US military (CENTCOM), which now holds the authorization from the White House to conduct strikes in Yemen without prior approval, has not commented on the operations.
The air strike campaign, which the Houthis claim has resulted in at least 57 fatalities, comes in response to the group’s threats to resume attacks on vessels in the Red Sea following a blockade of aid to the Gaza Strip by Israel.

The United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, stressed the importance of avoiding a full-scale conflict in Yemen, calling for diplomacy and mutual dedication among all parties to achieve peace. He emphasized that stability is crucial for Yemen and the broader region.

The Houthis have conducted over 100 assaults on ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden since November 2023, a campaign initiated in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza amid Israel’s military operations there. These attacks have disrupted international shipping, causing companies to reroute via longer, costlier passageways around Southern Africa.

In addition to maritime strikes, the Houthis have executed numerous missile and drone attacks on Israel, resulting in casualties and structural damage, including to a school in Tel Aviv.
