US Open: Alcaraz Glides into 2025 Semifinals | Tennis Updates

Carlos Alcaraz showcased his dominance against Jiri Lehecka in the US Open quarterfinals, maintaining his set unbeaten streak at this year’s event.

The second seed at Flushing Meadows, Carlos Alcaraz, easily advanced to the US Open semifinals with a confident 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Czech opponent Jiri Lehecka. This impressive win at Arthur Ashe Stadium saw Alcaraz hitting 28 winners and avoiding any break points, continuing his standout performance at the tournament.

On Tuesday, Alcaraz had the audience in his favor, delivering a nearly flawless match. Next, he will face either 24-time major winner Novak Djokovic or American fourth seed Taylor Fritz.

Lehecka is among the scarce players who have managed to defeat Alcaraz this season, securing a win at the Doha quarterfinals. However, this time, he was clearly outmatched, unable to capitalize as Alcaraz’s forehand attributed to his match-clinching point.

“If you show the opponent you’re fresh, you’re able to play two, three, more hours, to play long rallies, it’s giving him the mindset of this is going to be really tough,” stated Alcaraz regarding his game strategy. “The way that I walk between points, with attitude – I’m fresh, I’m really good physically, I think it’s really important to show the opponent that they are going to sweat a lot, and they are going to have to run a lot if he wants to beat me.”

Alcaraz broke early in the match, capitalizing on Lehecka’s double faults. The Spanish player maintained momentum throughout the second set and seemed to unsettle Lehecka, who became visibly agitated as he struggled to keep up.

Alcaraz celebrated his mastery in a 12-shot rally, further cementing his victory. He expressed satisfaction with his performance, emphasizing his hunger to progress further.

Having been broken only once in the tournament, Alcaraz is in a strong position to reclaim the world No. 1 ranking from Italy’s Jannik Sinner, though he’s avoiding letting this pressure affect his game.
