Since taking office last month, President Donald Trump’s administration has been deporting thousands of undocumented immigrants back to their home countries or third countries, sparking criticism that the migrants’ rights to due process are being violated. In the President’s first month, as many as 37,660 immigrants were deported, according to data from the US Department of Homeland Security. Central American countries like Panama and Costa Rica have agreed to accept these flights, even though their own citizens make up the majority of deportations. These are then deported to their country of origin, being held until repatriation is arranged.
