According to the Houthi Health Ministry, the latest US attack targeted a water management building in the Hodeidah region.
Reports indicate that four people were killed in US strikes on Yemen’s Hodeidah region, marking the latest escalation in attacks on Houthi forces. The US has also deployed a second aircraft carrier and additional warplanes to the Middle East.
Anees Alasbahi, a Houthi health minister’s spokesman, confirmed three deaths in a US attack on a water management building in the al-Mansouriyah district of Hodeidah on Tuesday, with two others injured. However, Alasbahi noted that the toll was preliminary.
Al Masirah TV later reported that the death toll from the attack had risen to four. Meanwhile, local media mentioned that the Hajjah and Saada regions were also targeted.
The US has not officially confirmed its involvement in the attacks which followed reports of multiple hits on Saada and Sanaa regions. There were no immediate casualty reports from the Monday night attacks.
Since Washington initiated a military operation on March 15 against Houthi forces, over 60 people have died in Yemen. The group had threatened to resume attacks on Israeli-linked shipping in the Red Sea if Israel violated the Gaza ceasefire.
The Pentagon plans to increase its presence in the Middle East by sending a second aircraft carrier, USS Carl Vinson, to join USS Harry S Truman. The move aims to enhance regional security and prepare for potential conflict escalation.
On Tuesday, Houthi forces claimed responsibility for launching cruise missiles and drones at US ships within the Truman aircraft carrier group, marking their third strike on US forces in 24 hours.
While the Pentagon has not disclosed the specific aircraft this entails, sources indicate that at least four B-2 bombers have moved to the US-British military base on Diego Garcia, an island in the Indian Ocean with strategic proximity to Yemen and Iran.
$The US military Strategic Command has not confirmed the number of B-2 bombers that have arrived at Diego Garcia and does not comment on exercises or operations involving the bombers.$
The deployment of additional military assets, including the second aircraft carrier and B-2 bombers, follows US President Donald Trump’s statement that strikes on Houthi fighters will continue until they cease to be a threat to shipping.
Additionally, tensions have risen as Trump has increased his rhetorical pressure on Iran, threatening “bombing” if diplomacy fails to address Iran’s nuclear program. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned of a strong response if the US follows through on these threats.
