Auction sells poker-forfeited car once owned by Johnny Hallyday

The late French rock star Johnny Hallyday’s classic car, which he lost in a game of poker, has been auctioned off for €132,000 ($143,000; £110,000). The Panther De Ville was given to him by his ex-wife, singer Sylvie Vartan, in 1975 and features mink seats and a gold disc on the grille. A French man bought the vehicle at auction for a specific project, which he plans to reveal soon. Hallyday attempted to buy the car back after losing it in poker but was discouraged by his manager due to limited funds. The car was produced in Britain from 1974 to 1985 and had a V12 Jaguar engine. Hallyday was known for his love of cars but had to sell the Panther De Ville after losing a game of poker. He went on to sell over 110 million records and had a career spanning 57 years until his death in 2017 due to lung cancer.
