The Yizhuang half-marathon in Beijing on Saturday featured robots running alongside humans. This event included twenty-one humanoid robots created by Chinese manufacturers, who competed in a challenging 21km course filled with slopes, turns, and uneven terrain.
The outcome of the race was mixed, with some robots successfully completing their course, while others faced difficulties from the start. One notable occurrence was a robot that fell at the starting line, remaining motionless for several minutes before eventually standing up and continuing to run.
This particular event marks a milestone as it is the first instance of robots competing against humans in a half-marathon in China. Previous appearances of robots at marathons in China did not involve such direct competition over this length of course.
